In partnership with MERC Aerospace, classical trumpeter Andrew Balio recently made a landmark recording of transcriptions of the works of Brahms, Schubert, and Schumann at Skywalker Ranch in Marin County California, the home and private studio of Star Wars director George Lucas. Transcription in classical music means taking the music from one instrument and resetting it for another, often transforming its character and sonic characteristics to create a new aesthetic experience.
Balio, Principal Trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony and founder of the Future Symphony Institute, recorded with Grammy-Nominated pianist John Wilson, a young up-and-coming star of the piano world.
The album, still in the editing and mastering phase, will be released on Delos Records and will be heard on Apple Music, Spotify, and other popular streaming platforms.
